I find their suggestions a bit high....every flat top AR I have used a 1.5 on isn't really good for cheek weld. This get's a bit annoying although eventually I get a height that works and am able to sell the Larue mount....but geez. Is it just me. I have now found the correct formula for me..but it took a few tries.

I would think they are suggesting high mounts in order to accomodate for the optic to clear the BUIS, or so the reticle clears the front sight post if you have a fixed front sight.

Objective has to clear the rail, everyone wants a full length railed handguard these days, so the scope mount needs to provide the sufficient clearance. You could always run a PRS stock if comb height is becoming an issue.

yep...always had to before. Now I know what to buy and to ignore their suggestions. But that is expensive. First Larue suggests wrong mount...then a PRS is required....takes a while to get there. Just a warning for the few who may be trying.

I was looking at a LT-120 (1.285") for a S&B 3-20x50 on an OBR (no BUIS). When I called Larue to order it, I was initially told the LT-120 was too low to accommodate the scope. I had done the math and disagreed. The salesperson wanted to get me into a 1.5" mount. I definitely didn't want any more height than I needed due to the OBR rail. Though I had a PRS stock, I did not want to rely on topping out that cheekpiece.
Finally the Larue salesperson checked a few things, did the math, and came to the conclusion I'd have about 4mm to spare for the bare scope. With the thicker Tenebraex covers (which I like), it is a very tight fit as I have to turn the objective lense cover 90 deg to open. I could shave the scope cap a tad, but it is not a big deal.
