I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried one of the Lawton 7000 series actions in an AICS stock? I am thinking about getting in on the group buy if i can scrape up the cash. I have two other Lawton 7500 benchrest actions and although i havent gotten to shoot it yet My first impressions were real good. The actions look like they are real winners. The 7500 actions are benchrest actions and they are probably a bit to tight for tactical work. I like them tight but i am a little concerned about how tight the 7000 series are. Are they a bit more loose since they are repeaters? Are they more inclined for field work than the 7500 actions? Just looking for a little experienced info on them. The people at Lawton are also real helpful and seem to care about there customers and thats a big plus in my book. They treated me real good and worked with me on a couple small issues we had. I would highly recommend them. I saw the group buy below so i thought i would get some info. Thanks Lee

Has anyone used a Lawton in an AICS stock? I am wondering about the rear tang area. Is there enough cut out on the back end of the AICS or will i have to have some of the tang area milled out on the chassis? Lee

RWSGunsmithing has put together several rifles with the Lawton 7000 in AICS 1.5 and 2.0. He is building me one in 338 Lapua now. Go through the classifieds and track down some of the purchasers. There are also several pics still floating around.

I've made a few purchased through RWSGunsmithing and always been happy with the service I've received from them and the products they've offerred.

Lawton 7000, tactical knob, fluted bolt, 20MOA rail, 18" 3-groove 308. As Robert mentioned, there is a couple of places that will need to be adjusted, but nothing major. I had lawton mill my AICS in the recoil lug area to accommodate a tight fit. If RWS doesn't do it, I would then recommend a little bedding job in front of the front face of the recoil lug to make sure she sits in there tight. I also had to grind out a spot for my timney trigger. You wouldn't believe it, but the recoil lug slot on my AICS was actually "warped." When we sent the mill through there, you could see the valley. Pretty dissapointing considering what those stocks cost.

Can't go wrong with lawton!
