Would the Lawton 7000 receiver be a good candidate for building a 338 Norma? I am looking for a good receiver to build a 338 Norma on and was wondering whether the Lawton 7000 would accomodate the larger diameter case of the 338 Norma.

They use a sako style machined into the bolt lug on the port side (not navy talk).

Another action to look at is the TAC338 action by Stiller. It has a .050 larger diameter bolt body and receiver over a standard remington long action. Plus it uses a M16 style extractor. Thread tenion is 1 inch opposed to .700 thou. Plus it uses 1-1/8" 16tpi rather than 1-1/16" 16tpi.

Not that there is anything wrong with a Lawton 7000...just something else to consider. Plus I think that they're around the same price.
