Have a chance to pick up some old CMP lake city 3006 in clips sealed in cans. What's it worth per round now? Buying it from a friends fathers estate, dont want to screw them over. Google fu has let me down. Just threads from 2006-2008....
Greek surplus has recently sold for near $1 a round in clips. The last enblocs I bought new were north of $2 each a couple years ago. New Privi garand ammo is advertised at $210 for 200 rounds sans enblocs.
So it's three cans at 440rds per? If it's match and not rotten it's a good deal at .80 cents a round and at a buck a round it's okay. People always want more but it's nearly 60 years old if it's got 67 or 68 headstamps. And depending on how it was stored it might have issues. Nothing dangerous but you might get a few low velocity rounds or an occasional click bang round.
I'd make the effort to get it. I have some from the CMP that was straight from a depot. It's pretty good ammo.
If it's on strippers it should be really old. If it's match ammo on Garand clips it's 60s vintage usually. If it just M2 ball on Garand clips I'd make sure its not corrosive. The US transitioned away from corrosive primers by the mid 1950s.
