Does anyone know how good LC-77 308 Match Brass would be for long range precision shooting such as F/TR? I used it for years in service rifle competition with the M1A with good results but I'm not sure how well it will work in precision shooting out to 1000 yds as compared to commerical match brass. I have a large quantity of the brass is the reason I'm asking.

Re: LC-77 308 Match Brass

In about 1998 the CMP had a small quantity of 2000 LC 94 Match cases new unprimed in a 20mm ammo box. I bought one and have shot it for 14 years now in my match tuned M1 Garands when I shot the M1 in service rifle competition (I switched to the AR in 2004) and now in my precision rifles. My brass prep was only uniforming and deburring the primer pocket and trimming to length. Using 42.2 gr. of 4064 or 42.0 of RE15 and a 175 SMK, my precision rifles (a GAP SCLE, an AJ Brown FN SPR, and an AI AW) will all shoot sub 1/2 MOA, so I'd say that Lake City match cases work just fine. Keep in mind that the LC cases are thicker and have less case capacity so you will have to reduce powder charge from the loads that the guys shooting Winchester or Lapua brass are using. When I compared the weight of Winchester 308 brass to my LC 94M cases, the Lake City cases were around 20 grains heavier.
