Can you shoot the lead bullets with a can on the 9MMs?? I was looking at some 147gr lead bullets for practice and was wondering if they would cause any problems when using a silencer with them. Thanks guys!!!!

Re: Lead bullets with a can????

Sometimes, depending on the pistol and suppressor. My dad and I do it with our hard cast, but they're HARD cast (35+ H) and I'm shooting them from a Glock 10mm.

The bullet lube does tend to gunk things up, Slip2000 baths every few hundred rounds keeps it running well.

As long as you keep your barrel clean and watch the build up inside your can, you should be alright.

I don't recommend shooting any lead projectiles through any suppressor that is not user-serviceable. You will get lead buildup inside the suppressor. If you cannot clean the buildup out, eventually the suppressor will have enough added weight to cause it and the host weapon to not cycle properly. This can result in damage to the host weapon and/or suppressor. You might even get hurt in the process if the the weapon system experiences a catastrophic failure.

All this assumes you are using a host weapon with a moving barrel.

If the suppressor uses a booster system, the extra weight can adversely affect the booster system operation.

I've seen some pistols fail catastrophically because of poorly timed boosters. It is sometimes not pretty.
