Looking to put a leather wood CMR on an M1A. Just wandering if anyone had any experince witht his scope. It would fit the budget for right now. Has anyone used this one before? I saw a thread on this scope and the scocom big bore, but is it ok for a 308.

Re: Leatherwood CMR ?

I ran across a couple of reviews on m4carbine and other sites and all had pretty good reviews. I ended up getting it for $200 on midway and it just came in two days ago. Honestly, i am pretty impressed. The glass i am pretty impressed with. I would say it is on par with my buddy's Burris XTR tactical which is pretty good glass.

The best thing about the scope are the zerostop type turrets and reticle design. It has mil markings and a drop compensation that works out for 5.56 62gr. The horseshoe/3/4 circle reticle really works great for CQB and it has a center 1moa dot for longer range stuff. The brightness has 11 settings and on its brightest it will wash if you are aiming it right into a bright sun. But even on a bright day it will show up against most objects. This is pretty much what i have seen with every single 1-4x optic i have seen so far less than a $1000. But even with the reticle off, it still works great because of the horseshoe design.

I am taking it to the range this thursday to zero and test out but i have no doubt that it should perform well. I was going to wait for the Viper PST but it is still not out and costs $500 at least. I am sure i will also get either the PST or SS 1-4 but if this thing performs it would be hard to beat for $200.

i have one on a 17mach2 i do like the turrets and reticle design too! the illumination is not compleatly even not just mine others have noted the same on other sites it works good for my app though quick on the sqirrels and rabbits with fast folow up if needed
