I want to get an entry level paper puncher in .308 and I'm having a heck of a time finding a discontinued Savage 10 FLP. I think that pretty much leaves me with the Savage 10 FLCP-K and the Remmy 700 SPSVL as my choices in a heavy barrel, left handed action .308 in the >$750 price range. I'm looking for input on the Savage vs. the Remmy or any other options that may be out there. Thanks in advance (yes I searched).

Tikka T3 SS Varmint LH is a good rifle. Do not know about the price in USA though. Scrap the .308 and get right away one in 6.5X55 and you have a 1000 meter rifle.

I almost bought one but went ahead with a full custom .284 Win that is still being built.

Since you said paper puncher, If you are going to be shooting it mostly from bipod or bench, just get a RH rifle and you'll be fine. Actually faster/easier that way.

If you are slinging up, you'll want a LH action.

IF n only IF you know you will only ever shoot from a bench, as Monty stated a right hand rifle will serve you better.

If however ya might fancy hunting or something other than a bench gun a lefty would be best

I,m a southpaw and only shoot left hand action period,i want that ease of running bolt in other than bench style shooting.

Rem, Win and savage all make good lefties
My Taktikal rig was once a Rem 700 vs, pics on here somewhere

Well said. I am a lefty, but lets face it, we live in a right handed world. I am so used so dealing with a RH rifle that they almost look funny when they are built LH. But thats me. If you look around you can easily find a lefty from Savage.

Re: Left Handed Options in .308???

Thanks for the replies. I have looked and only have found the 10 FLP in .223, not .308.

Is the Tikka available in the US?

Yes. They are imported under Berretta's distributor. BTW, I have a Tikka T3 in 223. It's a very accurate rifle right out of the box. And indeed, it's a starter gun because it's not too expensive, but its accuracy is top notch.

I've seen the T3 Lites and other Tikka rifles before, but I wasn't sure if they imported their entire catalog including the .308 varmint left.
