What can any of you guys tell me about the Legion Sobol. I'm familiar with the Biathlon 70-2 so I more concerned with the fit and finish of the Sobol as I've never held one. They are basically double the price of the BB 70-2 and just wondering is it worth it considering I'll be buying one sight unseen.

Re: Legion Sobol

If it was me , I would not bother with the Sobol , and YES I have owned one ( not the legion , custom ) , and I think the Basic or the Bi 2KO is much better .

They both have the same action , BUT the Receiver are different , less Receiver on the Sobol actually supporting the barrel , so it has a shorter tunion lenght , I think the Basic & the Bi 2KO have the longer tunion , just like the target versions .

From memory , they use the rear iron sight as a tie down point ( Sobol , the receiver tapers shorter towards the barrel ), ie has a screw that goes thru the stock .

If you are after accuracy , go for the rifles that have the longer receiver that better supports the barrel .

I had a std Sobol , sold IT , know have the basic & the Bi 2KO , hope that answers your Q's .

The Legion shop , just , basically polishes & blues the rifles for Izhmash on a semi custom basis .

As to worth double the cost , I would say NO .

Later Chris

Izhmash quality control test fires barreled actions for function and accuracy.
In this way the demonstrated accuracy of each barreled action is known to the factory.
And, they are graded as such - factory target group size is posted on the outside of the each rifle box.

The Izhmash Sobol barreled actions displaying a propensity for better accuracy are set aside.
Then, shunted to Legion where they are dressed-up and priced accordingly.
Yes, they began as ordinary Sobols.
However, through a process of selection ... the more than ordinary are transformed into the extraordinary.
The worth of a Legion Sobol ... is in the eye of the beholder .
