You trying to determine the length of pull on a rifle you have or determine what length of pull you need?
My preference is the length between my bicep (arm bent at 90*) and my trigger finger (bent at 90*).

That's my method too.
If you are trying to get your rifles length of pull, just measure from the trigger to the stock.
