Hello guy's, need opinions today! I'm looking at a Les Baer rifle that is being offered for sale. 223cal 22" barrel w/nice bipod also has Magpull fully adjustable stock and target type pistol grip. It has a NF 5.5x22x56 scope. This rifle is all black and the owner states that the barrel is stainless steel. There is only a little wear towards the end of the barrel but nothing big. He claims the rifle has not been shot much. oh! the NF scope looks brand new. He is asking $2900.00 for it. I don't know the history of this gun. Do you guys think this sound's like a good price??????

Re: Les Baer rifle

That scope must look huge on that rifle...A couple of questions - what are the specs on the Night force - zero stop, High speed turrets and how is it mounted to the rifle? If it is just a normal NF and it is without ZS or HS turrets you could look at it around $1300-1500 as it sounds in good shape. So, that would put the rifle at around $1500 which is pretty good for a Les Baer Rifle. Just looking at what is listed and not seeing the rifle, I think it is worth the money. Les Baer makes a very accurate AR so I think you are good. If you can get them down a hundred or two even with cash even that much better.

Re: Les Baer rifle

The NF scope is mounted on the rifle w/NF rings, don't know about the specs of the scope, wether it's ZS or HS, I don't know much about these scopes except that everybody tells me they are great. The scope dose look big on the gun and I thought about separating the scope and selling it. I would replace it with something else. so I could sell the scope for $1000 - $1500??

Give a try but I think the price is good so I would buy it if I were in the market.

Re: Les Baer rifle

The seller is a dealer, the receiver on the right side says Les Baer. I don't remember if the upper has the makers name on it. does L/B sell uppers and bottoms by them self. Like I said I don't much about these guns except that they are suppose to be very accurate and well made. I have been looking to buy a nice rifle and this looked to be a real deal..

Why do you consider it to be an "interesting" optic for an AR? Many people use the 50-56mm optics on an AR-10, myself included.

It's an AR15, but still, nothing wrong with a 5.5-22 NF!

Les makes a badass rifle!! I think $2900 is fair. If you like it, get it! The Baer AR10 I got to play with was amazing.

Re: Les Baer rifle

Because I feel it is on an AR-15, unless its on a varmit rig. My eyes allow me to see the difference between an AR-15 and AR-10. When I can no longer see this I will move to a 50-56mm optic.

Re: Les Baer rifle

Ok guy's here the latest. The gun is 24" not 22". Got the serial # and called L/B. Was advised the gun was made 09/11 and left the factory w/the following options.
Adjustable but stock and black poly what ever on the barrel. Now, I verified that the scope although functions like new dose have ever so slight ring marks. The dealer states that the scope was apparently on another rifle and that's how he took the gun in. He says the only thing wrong with this combo is the very small wear on the top end of the barrel and the ring marks he called it shadow marks on the scope. what do guy's think ????????? I'm leaving it up to you guy's, what ever you say...

Re: Les Baer rifle

I personally wouldn't want anything made by Les Baer. They made the mistake of putting the castle nut on backwards for a photo-shoot gun. Then made up a bullshit story about how it was somehow superior.

I was on my iPhone at work and apparently missed the '223' part of the AR, which is why I asked about the NXS on an AR, thinking the Les Baer in question was an AR-10. Still, yet, the NXS could be sold, more suitable optic bought, and probably still have cash in pocket and come out ahead.

Oh, wow...LoL

You are buying a used rifle so there it is not going to be perfect and this one sounds to be in good shape so I say go for it. The NXS is marketable for sale if you want to sale it; but, if you get the rifle and like the optic then rock on - who cares what others think. The price is decent so if you want it buy it and then show a picture of what you got. Again, if you can talk him down some with cash then try that too. Always worth the try to get into his profit margin since you have no idea how much he paid for it

Hey I did that before worked fine but then I'm not trying to sell myself as the greatest AR builder ever. Kinda like a friend of mine who had his magpul flip ups on backwards because he "...watched a video on youtube..." about them which turned out to be an airsofter thing...

Re: Les Baer rifle

If possible confirm the cond. of bbl with a Hawkeye bore scope. A krieger/ Bartlein replacement bbl will not be cheap. If low round ct. that is a good buy.

Re: Les Baer rifle

The gun is a great buy. However, ask around and search the forums about their customer service. They are notorious for being assholes and blaming the gun owner for failures. We've had this problem with several 1911s that were used for duty use.

They do make kick ass guns though. I'd buy it.

Re: Les Baer rifle

I can only speak for the LB AR10 but mine is very accurate and 100% reliable. LB gets bashed on here a lot so I don't post about it much. Sounds like you found a bargain.

Hope this helps,
