Rifle Scopes Leupold 8x40 FXII

i have not used one but do have a couple comments as i have spent some time thinking about fixed power scopes.
i would like to see a long range reticle option available for the 8x40 vx2. leupold has that rehitcle available on the 6x36, 6x42 and 12x40; maybe more as im only using swfa for my information. i still am considering the 6x36 only because it has the couple extra marks i can use to help be a little more precise with bullet placement. if a company made a sub 450 dollar fixed 8x with mil dot or similar rehitcle it would make me loose even more sleep at night. i have even started to really consider a fixed 10x. i wonder if i would choose the 6x36 with some extra marks or a 8x40 for more precise shoots? without having the ability to conduct a crude test im thinking the 6x may provide a better tool for the job i laid out?

A consideration might be to buy the FXII 8x40 and send it in to Leupold for a M1 (or other) turret.
