Can't decide on either. The scope of choice is going to go on a .243 varmint build. It seems that leupold charges an extra 200$ to implement First focal plane. So what would you pick? My price limit is where the 6.5-20 stops at 1700$. I'm open to opinions of other good manufactures that i wouldn't know about.

Well, being that varmints are little critters I would go with the higher mag.And I would NOT get a ffp as it's not needed. You can always laser-range them and an enlarging reticle is not what you'd want for a tiny target,Just my .02.....

    Man will,

At $1,700 you're real close to being in the US Optics range. There shit is tight and arguably the best customer service in the industry. Take a look at the SN-3. It's a FFP, and they will make it any way you like.

I know haha i have a SN-3 on my .308 They are top notch and my favorite scope. I was almost leaning towards the 3.5-10 cause hell i don't have to save up money near as long. If i don't need FFP though it lowers the range of cost significantly.

I was just about to ask that, i wasn't sure if i need FFP or not. I guess i don't. That considerably lowers the price of both then. Hell i can pick up a 6.5-20x50 for 1250$ or a 8.5-25x50 for 1400. The reason the 3.5-10x40mm is even in the discussion is cause i was thinking. Hell 50% of the time im not going to shoot past 500 yards. When i say varmint for around here im talking coyote/bobcat. So the 3.5-10x40mm is still in the mix.

Also trying to talk my dad in to splitting it with me 50/50. So i wouldn't have to wait as long. Cause i got my 5R stock from my .308 build and am in the process of ordering a barrel withing the next week or so. And the 2 barrels i've chosen are in stock at midway.
