What are your opinions about using a mk4 16 fixed vs variable on a 338lm shooting steel targets at 1k-1800yds.Where would the 16 fixed benifit me over the variable scopes.

Re: leupold mk4 16x40?????

The fixed power Mark 4's have a better track record than the variables. That alone, if i were to use a Leupold, would steer me towards the 16x. Also, the amount of internal elevation of the 16x is around 150 MOA.

The strong points of the MK4 16X, in my opinion,

- Simple and strong
- 140 moa el travel (mine's on a 45 moa base, have 105 moa useable up travel)
- good 4" eye relief
- Not overly large, or heavy.
- Excellent customer service should you ever need it

I like mine a lot. 1K+ is where it shines.
