Is there anyone that can change a Leupold reticle to
MOA hashmarks like the Nightforce NP-R2 reticle?
I am looking for MOA, not MIL. Leupold custom shop does not. Thanks

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

You can make a MIL Reticle read MOA just by adjusting the power ring. You will need a Boresighter that reads in MOA. As you back the power down the MIL reticle will grow the 1/2mils will be come 2moa and the 1mil mark will be come 4moa.

I have done this for a few customers and it has worked great.

Hope this helps.

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

Mike,
By using a mil reticle like the Leupold TMR(mil) I will have to find out at what power setting the mils = MOA ?
So I will not be able to be at full magnification ?

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

1. Measure up 1 MOA on cardboard/target, draw lines with 1 MOA in between.
2. Set up 100 yards away and start at max magnification,
and adjust down until the mildot fits in the 1 MOA gap.
In short, until the mildot is 1 MOA.
3. Mark magnification with marker for future reference.

Done.

Mr. Swede,

Clever idea, too bad it will not work. A leupold mildot reticle @ max magnification is already 3.6" between the dots, or on a TMR 1.8" between the hashs. Your 1 moa gap is 1.04". As you turn the power down, your gap will grow bigger, not smaller. You will never reach 1 moa, as your going the wrong way.

However, if you start with a 4 or 5 moa gap for a Leupold MILDOT reticle (half that if you have a TMR), you might have a point in which your plan will work.

Again not sure if MOA is what you want. Most Leupold's adjust in IPHY, but check your scope first.

If one must use MOA, because mils are a foreign language, better to sell the Leupold and buy the appropriate USO, Nightforce, or such, or maybe wait for the new Vortex PST's in MOA......

Just saying.....

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

Got lost in the math, but it does work,
I do this on my Zeiss Conquest 4,5-14x50.

The mildots are accurate at 10X, and at 14X the mildot is 2 MOA (Maybe not on the decimal, but practically 2 MOA).

Thanks for rectifying.

Are you using MOA or IPHY with your Zeiss?

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

MOA.

Have however taped over the turrets and remarked them for MIL/MIL use with the mildots so I really don't think much of it now. Did before, though. Makes it way easier to get on target with 14x and MOA/MOA than that damn MIL/MOA.

Re: Leupold reticle change to MOA

The original post was promted by me trying to help a friend out that has a Leupold scope and wants the reticle changed to MOA. Like Bob I recomended selling it and buying a PST when they come out. Doesn't seem like there is anyone that can make the reticle.
