I am sort of new to this site and have not seen to much talk on the Leupold Mark 4 scopes. I was looking at a few of the scope vendor sites and read about the Mark 4 LR/T 8.5x25x50 Illuminated. This looks like quite a scope for the money. Any comments or experiance with this scope?

I had one in 6.5-20 with the ill. reticle on a target heavy barreled AR. It was a good scope and I wish I wouldn't have sold either one. It wasn't quit as bright as my NF NSX side by side, but it was also alot cheaper. I would buy one again.

I have a number of Leupolds and they have all worked well. In 35 years of using their scopes, the only one I have ever had to return was one that I bought used at a gun show, and wanted refinished and checked out. That was around 20 years ago, and the scope came back looking damn near new, and only cost me a few bucks. I got no complaint with Leupold products, or their customer service.
Certainly, if you pay twice the price for a different brand, you have a right to expect more or better features. Nightforce, Swarovski, Schmidt & Bender, and some of the really high end scopes will probably perform better or have more options. But, you pay much more for them.
Value for the dollar and what you receive for your dollar on Leupold scopes is really hard to beat.
That said, if I had $3500 to $5000 EXTRA to spend on a scope, I might buy Schmidt and Bender, or something like that...then again, maybe I would buy 3 or 4 top end Leupolds rather than one scope. Just depends on what you need your scope to do.

Plenty of haters for Leupold here so do your own research
. I owned several MK4s and have no problem with them. I have dealt with Leupold CS several times and they have always treated me right.
However depending on your application and equipments. I put my MK4s on lower end toys and NFs on higher dollar toys.

I just recently bought a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14x50 with the M1 turrets for my 700p. I think it's a great scope and I really don't have any complaints about it so far. The only "problem" is that sometimes the TMR reticle can disappear if you're looking at a dark target in low light but you wanna go with an illuminated reticle then it shouldn't be a problem. What kind of rifle do you want to mount it on? What caliber?

In my opinion seems like alot of scope for those kind of distances
my 4.5x 14 is more than enough out to 1200 yds .
with the 8 x 25 youre gonna p/u alot more mirage
I aint no expert but if you want that big of a scope
you may wanna go in a different diection.

I agree with varmint...you don't need that much magnification for 600 yards. You'll be better off getting the 4.5-14x50 and it'll save you some money too cuz I think it costs about a $100 less than the one you're looking at. Then you can use that $100 on ammo!
