I am in the agreement that Leupold is priced a bit to high, and that there are other scope makers that make equal or even better glass for the same money. One thing i really like about Leupold is that when you look through one you can see from edge to edge. there are not black areas around the outside of the optic. what i mean is that, when i look into my Nikon there is a fairly large black ring on the outside edge of the optic. with leupold it looks like you see more of what your looking at. I hope that makes since. I am not know for my grammar or explanations. I need a good hunting scope for my 6br coyote rifle and i would like to go with leupold but i dont want to pay the money for one. I just really like the full view that leupold allows me to see. the black ring on my monarchs seem like wasted space. I know i am crazy, but does anyone else agree with what i am saying? I guess my questions is, is there any other scope maker on the market that shares the similarities as leupold? I want to spend around around 350-400 bucks for my scope and i really dont know what to buy. I have a monarch ucc on the rifle now, and it is a great scope, but i cant get the scope back far enough to get a good sight picture. Ring height and check weld are the problem. I am going to have to sell this scope and get something else. I looked at Leupold vx-II in a 4-12 but they are darn near 500 bucks. to much for a yote scope. any ideas?? Thanks fellas as always!!! Re: Leupold sight picture question??

If I understand correctly, it may just be an issue of findiing a different mount (base) for your rings. It sounds like you want/need to get the scope closer to your eye. In my experience, Leupold does have more eye relief than most of the lower priced scopes. When I have tried other scopes they just don't "feel" right as it feels like my eye is too close to the scope and my peripheral vision is impaired. Have you tried a picatinny rail type base? That may give you more room for your front ring before it hits the bell area of the front objective and allow you to move the scope farther back. In my opinion, I'd spend the extra $50 or $100 and get a used Leupold. A used Leupold would keep the price in close to your budget.
