I'm looking for a budget lightweight 2-10x with capped turrets for a lightweight mountain rifle. These two seem to fit the bill. Any reason to pick one over the other?

I personal liked the the 2-10 LH Razor. very sharp and bright like my razor 4.5-27. Without all the weight and bulk. Take a look a both the reticle options some people don't like them.
Leupold has so many reticle options so you can find what you like. I am currently looking at the vx-5hd 3-15 only because of the dial turret over the capped 3-15 razor. it helps for antelope and barbary sheep hunting

Razor HD LH is a little better optically.

VX-5 can be had with an illuminated reticle and exposed turret for dialing elevation.

Reticles are in the eye of the beholder, but I am obviously partial to the G4-BDC reticle in the Vortex. It also comes with HSR-4. VX-5 is only available with illuminated and non-illuminated plex.

If G4 BDC reticle works for you, it is heavily discounted right now. I think you can pick it up for around $500 right now. I have links somewhere on my website, but you can easily find it discounted.

Amazon had a few for $475

I picked up a 3-15 with G4 reticle a few months ago for a heavily discounted price. It quickly became my favorite hunting optic, if dialing isnt on the menu. I like a german 4 reticle so the G4 is just right for me. Some dont care for it. Its heavy enough to be easily picked up in a low light situation, illumination is not needed IMO with that reticle, hence why it was never offered with one. I think if vortex would have offered this scope with user selectable turrets they wouldnt be able to keep them on the shelf.

I have a 2-10 hd lh and optically its the best I own. That thing is brighter than my cronus and other comparable scopes including the gen ii razor. Its on a light weight rifle that doesn't get shot over 300 yards. I like the g4 reticle, its very fast. Very light. Considering a 3-15 for another rifle.
