A couple websites have them for fairly cheap. The one I am looking at specifically is the 6.5-20 FFP model. Not too picky on the reticle. Thinking of putting one on my AR.
Are they decent for the price (<$800)? Or should I look elsewhere. The Steiner P4X is another option that costs just a hair more.

5mil turrets, 3x erector, narrow FOV, I don't see the appeal.
Not when there are far better options for the same price (eg the Steiner p4xi) unless you really want light weight there is no reason to buy the Leupold.

They may be a bit outdated but they work. As with everything it depends on what you want to do with it. I have one of the 8.5-25 scopes and for what I use it for it is great.

The 3x erector really only comes into play when you need low power- and on the rifle mine is on I don't go below 10. So I could pay for a 6x erector system and get a 4-24 and still get the exact same amount of good out of it. Realistically deciding how low of magnification you need can save you a lot of money, and if you don't do it correctly can really frustrate you when you need lower power. I would think on a AR that you would want to go below 6x- but depends on your setup. Haven't looked through many of the vx 3i.... but mine has excellent glass- almost as good as my Mark 5.

Far superior in every respect:

This steiner is an awesome option:

I have 2 6.5-20 and 1 8.5-25.
These for me were upgrades from the old VXIII SFP scopes. I've picked all three of them up here In the PX within the last year. If I was competing or getting paid to shoot, or had unlimited discretionary funds, I would have Vortex Razors, or the Leupold 5HD or better. I shoot square range for fun, usually prone sometimes bench. I dont hunt with them.
They check the boxes for FFP and MIL reticle and Turret and decent glass with adequate tracking for my use.
Do I want more, yes. But only when I have a custom rifle worthy of it.
For AR use, I've been satisfied with a 6-18 mark AR for a "Precision" rifle used under the conditions above and a rare coyote hunt.
For the price and American Made they are hard to beat.

That Bushnell listed above is on my list, but not a priority.
