Can tuck eee
The mole’s really did a number on my yard last year, it is rough. I’ve read a pile of methods about leveling it out with sand, or sand topsoil mix. Have any of you guys had first hand experience with doing this? I’ve read where it turns out great and stories where it made it worse. Thanks for any insight.

Rototill it as deep as possible and rake it out with a tractor or skid steer bucket.
Or you can rake it by hand.
The biggest part is to rototill it to break up the high spots.
Grass will grow better too.

The most important part is to be sure to get down a liberal coating of mole repellant so they dont do it again. If youve got a neighbor you dont like, start the granules on the side away from his house. Everyday put down a strip until youve worked your way to his property line. The moles will flee in front of the granules and end up in his yard, thank you very much.

Pullin muh pud would do more good than tilling up a fucking yard that needs leveling, dumbass. But go ahead a share more of your knowledge...
Yea, there are no tunnels all thru the lawn so just ignore that...right ?
First time it rains heavy there will be new low spots, so just ignore that too.
You really do think past the end of your nose.....don't you ?

Why do you feel the need to give advice on thing you know fuckall about? Why?

I've done it with sand. It works better if you mix some top soil in with it maybe 1/3 topsoil 2/3 sand and get the spots. If they are deep then you will need do it in 2 stages for it to work well. I started putting a little seed in with it, but sod worked better in the spots when I just filled the holes and mounded the dirt up slightly, and put sod on it in every spot. It's kind of a long process otherwise. I have 1 hole left in the front yard and it has grass growing in it well so I'm going to try to dig up the grass, add dirt, put the grass back.

I tried smoking the moles with smoke bombs, it seemed to help a little but then all of the sudden last year they exploded and I had them everywhere. From what I understand last year was a banner year for moles because of the locust.

Get rid of the grub worms the rats with shells are eating! Lowe’s. Home Depot etc or your local co-op!
Is that specifically what they are after? We've had just a ridiculous amount of rain the last 2 years and it's part of the problem but do I need just a general insecticide type of granules or is the specific for grubs?

They move in after grubs. Get rid of grubs. Get rid of them. Granules will work.

I used ultrasonic mole spikes to rid the yard of the rodents. Took about a week and there is no new sign of them. Just going to aerate and over-seed and see how it goes.

Ever fill an innertube with oxy/acetylene mixed? Needs to be ignited remotely, very remotely. Or static electricity may do it for you under the right conditions.
Disclaimer: Don't try this at home kids.
Fireworks guy that worked for me was a real nut about fire, he told me a story of 100 yards out, queen water bed, oxy/acet and a remote detonator. He said it was not far enough. All the windows of the trailer were blown out along with everyone’s ear drums. He did not make a second attempt.

Ive done balloons and a small trash bag, i cannot imagine…..
Yes ..LOL . .. Ballons and Trash Bags and use open 55 Gal, Steel barrels to blow the blast UPward, and away from your ears or nearby windows . Steel sheet metal Trash Cans Don't work, and it pretty funny to see them down flat on the ground like a pealed banana .
.
edit add:
Got no Moles or Gophers .. but my front lawn looking like shit and pretty lumpy rollypolly , so i am paying attention to this thread .
.

Let a dashaund out at nite.

They love killing things.
You eventually have to bring them in and wash them and calm them down so they can rest.

They were ment for bloodsport.

My son actually asked to borrow my dashaund this evening for moles, had to do taxes.

Maybe tomorrow, see if I can get picks.

Someday I'll have to tell the story of the missing C4, detonators, and vehicle incident that somehow happened at Aberdeen Proving grounds in Md.
Of course all names will have to be withheld for reasons various and sundry.
:)

Sounds like a fun day. Or night. I've seen the results of a mini weenie dog digging for moles. yard looked like it was carpet bombed on a small scale. Quite effective on the moles though. It was worth the crater repairs.
