Sidearms & Scatterguns Lever Action thread

I bought a Rossi R92 a year or so ago and I put a Holosun 510 on the rail. After the 2 shot, the screws heads that hold on the rail broke and the red dot and rail hit me in the head. I took it to a gun smith to try and have it remounted a couple of times, even with bigger screws that darn thing would just loosen up with in 3 to 4 shots. I had to give up and I bought a Skinner sight on there. I bought that 510 just for that rifle and was not able to use it. I put it on my new Akm. I really liked that Rossi too. I search the internet and it is pretty much a common problem, too. I would have sent it back to the factory but i decided that perhaps with those screws going into the barrel and the size of that 510, that it must be too big for that gun.

Just did the paperwork on this winchester 1892 deluxe takedown in 44mag. It may not have the features of the new marlins but it handles so much better IMO.

I have to admit that's some fine looking wood you have there. :)

Thank you! It was a hard choice between this one and the other 92 deluxe that ended 45min later. I think mine has the better wood, where as the other had the better serial number of 00069 and it sold to the guy i beat out for mine. Pics are attached, which would you have chosen?

I'd take good wood any day. :)

Most of my lever guns are old, my Dark was my first "modern" lever gun. enjoying having a threaded version and had always wanted a 45-70 so it was destined. I've got levers in 38, 3030, 32-20, 218bee, 348, and maybe others. But basically just shoot the 45-70 with sub loads. easy on the shoulder and fun to shoot.

I originally wanted a winchester 22lr Leveraction but when I found my 45-70 1886 for the same money it was a no brainer. I too make light loads for it using trailboss and berrys 350gr plated projectiles and they are fun. But I also lucked into a pile of the pulled ftx projectiles from American Reloading so those will get made up into full power practice rounds.
