lifting music

Re: lifting music

I go for the punk:

Avail
Dead Kennedys
Rancid
Bouncing Souls
Minor Threat
Etc...

Re: lifting music

I also like some older new wave/post punk:

Joy division
Echo and the Bunnymen
Jesus and Mary Chain
Etc

Something about this music gets me goin'!

Re: lifting music

i have listened to most genres of music during one of the many stages of my life; 43,000 songs on itunes. i can appreciate the message of most songs regardless of the beats per minute or instruments in the background. when it comes to pumping me up and providing the motivation to follow through with my goals hip hop tends to delivery more consistently. this has a lot to do with the deeper struggles most in the inner cities have coming up and the stories they can tell. their passion and will for life tends to be deeper than most.

here are some of the songs that continually delivery to my success.
this one needs a star and the rest follow some random position behind it. *roy jones - cant be stopped* this coupled with career highlights from jose aldo or anderson silva and im ready for the world.

kayne west - amazing
eminem - no love
eminem - till i collapse
50 cent - get up
fort minor - remember the name
jay z - emprie state of mind
jay z - run this town
gangstarr - moment of truth

dmx and tupac can pretty consistently deliver as well.
if requested i can list off the songs i favor from each artist.
also like the whole mobb deep murda muzik album; ironic considering the issues tupac had with mobb deep but i am anobjective person. over the last 10 years nothing trumps the time i have listened to tupac i have not grown tired of his songs and continue to be motivated by his lfie story.

having listed these songs i have little shame in also saying i like celine dions - because you loved me. something about a soft soothing woman's voice. same with adele - rolling in the deep. i enjoy a woman's voice in some songs it brings be back down from my hype into a more gentle state of mind.

HAH, waiting for the banhammer.

Admin should drop that to 1 post.

I've been on a serious The Glitch Mob kick lately.

Check out their first Drink the Sea album. It's just so zen it always gets me to focus in.
Beyond Monday by them is a pretty good track as well.

Re: lifting music

Classical music. Relaxes you, doesn't have lyrics to distract you.

Re: lifting music

Clutch, Down, corrosion of conformity, KYNG, company band. Clasics, motorheadm acdc, zz top. Cant go wrong. I think Clutch is the best band out now. I've been digging their stuff for a while. Seen em 16 times live, very smart songwriter and band. No other band like em, thats fir sure. Whether you like em or not they are unique.

Re: lifting music

IN Flames mostly for me, Soundtrack to Your Escape is rad, along with all their other albums. Going to the Lamb of God/Hatebreed/In Flames show at the Palladium in Hollywood on Halloween should be an epic!

Re: lifting music

Pandora or IHeartRadio Alternative radio. Thanks for the suggestions, picked up some great music.

Re: lifting music

Not music, but motivation. For every time i don't feel like working out or want to just "do it tomorrow". Helps me to get my ass up and work out when i'm tired or have a lot to do and want to put it off.

Re: lifting music

I used to listen to Korn, Tool, Rage, Disturbed, Whitechapel, Meshuggah etc when I was into hardcore lifting focused only on muscle gain.

I'm over the "being huge" thing, not that I was ever huge - biggest I got was 205 at 7% (I'm 5'11" btw). Now I'm just into general fitness and my music has calmed down with my workout, listening to ealges, stones, zeppelin, clapton, kinks, zombies, aerosmith, zz top, etc etc these days.

Re: lifting music

One of the instructors in our Krav Maga bag class plays the worst club music for the warm ups... but for some reason it totally works for me. It must be the constant beat. I dont know if it would work for lifting... although it might make me angry enough to clean and jerk my Jeep :p

Re: lifting music

This is my "go-to" song...

PROVEN

"You wanna see me fail? You won't get your chance."

Re: lifting music

Ill listen to anything from Bluegrass, Jamey Johnson, to Hellyea and Five Finger Death Punch. But lately I am on a Blaggards kick, check them out:
