I'm looking at building a .300 whisper using a Savage action. I have a it in a Choate A5 clone ATM but feel like the stock is too heavy and bulky. My budget is somewhat limited(need to keep it under $200).

I'm looking at the Duramax. Its cheap, light, has good bedding options, and looks to be low drag. Does anyone have and opinion on this stock?

What are the best barrel options? I'll probably go with a 16'' bbl as I want a slim, light setup. It will need to be threaded.

I've been on the quarterbore forum and its great but not as populated as this place. Any general advice on the .300 whisper would be greatly appreciated.

Creature I went from a choate folder to the duramax on my savage whisper and don't have any plans to change it. Varmint contour is still light in a short 30 cal bbl.
