I want to get a semi-decent optic for my AR platform that has some magnification but doesn't add much weight. My current AR config is a basic 16" 1:7 flat-top. I have an aimpoint on it now but will be switching to one of the micro dots if I can find a lightweight powered optic that won't make my AR into a BR rifle. My intent is to have the optic full time with the micro dot off the side. I may switch this to run one or the other with the option to use a LaRue QD zero mount.

I tried with one of my Bushnell Elite 3200 10x and it was WAY heavy including rings. So looking for something durable yet lightweight that will get me out to 500yds with respectable accuracy.. or just help get tighter groups at 100-300yds.

Just to note.. this isn't a working gun but one I use for pretty much everything. So my intent is to have a fun gun for shooting at the range with the guys but a solid yet manuverable platform if need be in a precarious situation.

Thanks,
Hawk

Probably the Burris Timberline 2-7x26 with BDC:

It's not perfect (eye position is a bit touchy on mine) but it is really small and compact, decent glass, cheap, and works. Your current scope is already pretty compact at 12" long so the Burris with some aluminum rings is probably the few choices left.

My Burris sits on my AR pistol and I can reach out to 200 with it.
