I know we have some electricians an contractors on here.

Need to install an aimable flood light on one of our offices. Catch is it is one of these modern foam board covered with fake stucco. I've never had to attach anything heavier than a no parking sign to a building like this.

Any suggestions?

I'm more faliliar with masonry and proper wood framing.

Somewhere under all that has to be studs or block. The question is how far.

Is there anything else penetrating the stucco that you pull open to see how it's attached?

You could always get a really long piece of thread-all and go through the wall, across the interior, out the back side and put a wingnut on it. :giggle:

Gonna have to get to eithe cieling joists or trusses . Use all thread and uni stut to hang the fixture as ceiling tile wont support it .

I believe The National Electric Code requires a flat washer under the wingnut.

Alpha it's exterior wall not ceiling.

Building is about 20 yrs old.

I believe it's metal studs rocked on inside and that styrofoam and stucco outside. Do they typically sheath the building with something that would take a fastener or is the foam board fastened direct to studs?

I'm thinking about just using toggle bolts or threader rod with a backer board is another good option. The backer would be hidden be suspended ceiling.
