I am in need of a light load for recoil in 243 for my sons light weight youth model single shot. By the way he just turned 6 so I need any load data for a light recoil load.

Thanks in advance

Re: Light load for 243win

if shooting heavy bulletts be careful of reducing powder charge to much as some weird things start to happen with over presure prob.i know it sounds backwards but if yopu have a hornady rel manual read the .243 info.i cant remember what it said for sure but just something to be aware of.

Re: Light load for 243win

I loaded 25g of IMR4198 with 85g SGK in RP brass for a velocity of around 2700 fps and basically no recoil. My nephew killed his deer last year with that combo.
