Anyone shoot a rifle with a light Palma contour? I am wanting to build a 6.5mm rifle with a 26" long barrel and I am seriously thinking about going with a light Palma contour. Will it hold its accuracy when it gets hot without stringing? I am assuming that it will if Palma shooters are using them.

Re: Light Palma contour?

I had a Krieger light palma on a 6.5-06, that I liked allot. Currently have two more Palma profiles under the bed waiting to go to the gunsmith one Border (from when JR was there), and a Krieger. Really like this profile. Plenty of accuracy without extra weight.

Good luck

Re: Light Palma contour?

I am looking at barrel options for a future custom build 7WSM and am really tempted to go with a 30" medium or heavy Palma from Bartlein. At 5.35 and 6.5 lbs respectively, they are no lightweights, but you get 4-6" more barrel than on similar-weight target barrels. Do any of you have muzzle devices on yours?

Re: Light Palma contour?

I am using a 27" Krieger Light Palma on my Eliseo R5 tubegun. It is chambered in 6mm Dasher. It's probably the most accurate rifle that I have at the time being.

Not sure what you meant by "muzzle devices" but my barrel is turned to .750 for a Riles front sight. It is a NRA across the course rifle, but shoots with a scope just fine when the front sight is taken off.
