Looking at building a light weight hunting rifle. I have a scope and want to use another KRG Bravo chassis. I'll also be using a TB Ultra 7.

Action: Would like a Tikka T3X action. I just like Tikka actions. Not sure where to get just an action or barreled action. If you have suggestions for another action, it needs to be similar in price and quality.

Barrel: Thinking a Proof carbon fiber in 16".

Accessories would be a bipod and sling.

Trying to keep it simple, reliable, and light.

Can I get some advice without getting way off topic. Unless I'm so far off we NEED to go way off topic.

    Thanks gentlemen.

    Will you reload?

I can, and do, but I'm thinking off the shelf Hornady and such is actual pretty damn good and relatively cheap. Hunting I wouldn't go beyond 200-300 as I believe that's my personal limit for taking a responsible shot. Your limits may vary but my point is, the off the shelf should be more than adequate. But unless I go w/ another cartridge I'll likely end up reloading, so...?

You can pick up a used Tikka for a good price or just buy the most base offering and use for a doner.
You could also get a T3 lite in 65 Creedmoor and cut the barrel back to 16" and thread it if there's enough meat on the light weight barrel for a 5/8-24 thread at that length.
I was looking at them recently and may end up getting one.

    Perfect...

Was just curious because a 16 inch barrel with factory ammo will be very slow, especially in a Tikka barrel but I think you'll be good at said distances...

I use a Tikka t3 stainless in 270wsm, just how it is setup, just a sling, pic rail, arc rings and Hennie 4-16 its at 9lbs 4 oz. At 16 inches the barrel is .720 for your information. I do have a KRG bravo but at nearly 3lbs its a lot of extra weight a lot of extra weight over the factory stock. My goal is to rebarrel in 6.5wsm, I do have the barrel a 24 inch fluted cut rifle from Benchmark varmint contour, but it will end up close to 4lbs when finished. I have one of their carbon fiber Ibex stocks ordered as well, the rifle is probably gonna be close to ten once I finished unless I go short but I don't give up the velocity. With a Bravo and Tbac it will hard to shed weight.
