I’m going from a large frame 308 down to a lightweight small frame SBR and trying to shave weight. Running nvision xrf thermals which are excellent but 42oz! As well. We hog hunt 200 and under…..most shots 75-100yd. we still enjoy the 3.5x base mag and 2x zoom at times.

I was about to invest in a nox 35 as they are crazy light and I know nvision products but after talking with a few different salesman I’m hesitant about losing my base magnification that I like so much.

I don’t want to save a bunch of weight but then not be happy with the magnification which is really important. May have to go back to 50mm….

Any ideas or recommendations?

I’ve got both a Halo-LR and Nox35. After initially running the Halo on a 12.5” SBR , once I got the Nox now the Halo gets used as a spotter. Most of my shots are 50-150 yds and I don’t feel like I’m giving anything up by using the Nox over the Halo - actually prefer it due to increased FOV and lighter weight. IMO 3.5x base mag is overkill for 100yds and in, particularly after that first shot into a sounder and all hell breaks loose.

I've been calling around, trying to find someone that has a nox 35 i can look through... For now, everyone i've called doesn't have one. If anyone on here is around the DFW area, im in Ennis, tx. Id be willing to drive a bit to see it, i would bring my XRF just to A/B the different magnification.

Anyways, back to the subject. I'm gonna pump the brakes and read some more... I really don't want to bail on the Nox 35 until i look through one.

I've had some people pitch me a Rix Storm S6R and a Steiner S35 saying they're good as the Nox 35 and half the cost on one of them etc... Just trying to rationalize this... I need to go look at some for sure.
