I’m about to start another build and looking for stock recommendations. I really like the proof research elevation rifle but want it in a shorter barrel length in 6.5creed. Proof said that it’s not an option at this time so here we are. I’ve been looking at the Gunwerks clymr but open to other suggestions. Here’s where I’m at:

Bighorn origin
Proof 20” prefit
Stock?
Triggertech
AMG
TBAC ultra7

That also brings up another topic. LRI has built my other rifles so how do I install the prefit? It’s already shouldered, right? So no barrel nut. What tools will I need? Just an action wrench and barrel vice? Torque and go?

I'm happy with my EH6. I believe with the larger proof barrel you have to step up to the EH6-A which has a wider top to accommodate the larger barrel (up to proof medium contour). If you want something slimmer or an EH8 etc, may want to consider just going with a steel barrel. I have a Rock Creek #2 contour that's very light and shoots well for hunting round counts (haven't pushed it past 4 quick shots in a row).

I got to handle a Gunwerks stock at the range a few weeks ago and that's the stock I'd buy if I were looking for a CF hunting stock. My experience with Manners has been kind of rocky and I have little faith you'd get exactly what you want if you order one of their stocks. Not to mention Manners quality is pretty hit or miss. The Gunwerks stock was very nice, The owner said all he had to do was bed it, no alterations to the inlet, the barrel channel was actually round, and all of the lines were straight.

AG Composites is quick and reasonably priced; their lightest is 24oz. If you’re open to a chassis, the XLR Element V3 can get down to 28oz.

Edit: note that the Element has LOP options and adjustable cheek in that configuration.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, prefer traditional stocks for hunting i.e. no chassis.

Anyone have a good source for proof origin prefits? Having trouble finding them.

McMillan game scout or game warden are decent options. I’m running a game acout for my hunting rig and have been happy. Putting a 20” proof cf sendero light on it right now (was using krieger light palma).

McMillan still makes great stocks and you can get them in their Edge or Carbon Ambush versions, which are lighter than their standard marble stocks.

Here’s an adjustable Game Scout in Desert Carbon Ambush on my latest build.
