Rifle Scopes Lightweight scopes

Re: Lightweight scopes

That's the first scope I put on this rifle, and it's too heavy (for these purposes). I love that scope on my tactical/coyote rig, and I wanted to like it on my deer gun, but I just couldn't get used to the heavy weight.

Right now there is a 12.5 ounce Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 on the gun, and it served me well this past week in Wyoming, but I'd like something that's of higher quality (particularly the turrets) for the long haul. They are mushy as all get-out and even though one may have heard/felt a click when turning the knob doesn't necessarily mean that the reticle moved correspondingly.

If anyone is interested, this is a Rem 700 LSS Mountain Rifle in 7mm-08 restocked in a B&C Alaskan II. The entire point is to be as light as possible.

Re: Lightweight scopes

You can check out the Burris Timberline 3-9 or the Sightron II Big Sky 3-9 or the Redfield Revolution 2-7 (which comes in at 11oz). Leupold also has a VX-3 2.5-8 that weighs in at 11oz.

I have the Burris Short Mag 2-7 with BDC that is silly light but that one is discontinued. My 6 year old shoots it now. I also have the Trijicon 3-9 that weight in at 12.8 oz that is of really good quality.

Re: Lightweight scopes

I would look at VX-R 2-7x and 3-9x $400-450 or Minox 3-9x at 12oz, 2-10x and 3-15x at 14oz. $300-400 They always have the Minox here for low price open box specials. Supposed to basically be cheaper and lighter Conquests - equal optics and also German with USA assembly.

The VX-R's and Minox won't be a step down in quality from the SS, just lighter and no FFP.

Well - it differs from man to man

My question always was - i'm happy with features of USO ST-10.
but it built like a tank. I don't need a "tank". i need a "F150 truck".
It weights 1.5lbs - is it possible to shave off 5-6oz of weght by lightening of the body?

So basically i need 10x fixed,37-44mm bell, EREK turret, with 17-20 oz weight and i wonder - why it's not possible?

PS
NF compact is dark.
