Hello all, I am in the market for a mil FFP spotting scope and plan to make the purchase on cyber Monday. I am looking that the Bushnell LMSS and the Athlon Cronos Tactical, both with their respective mil reticles. I shoot a .300Winmag with a fixed 10x scope, would like a good spotting scope for 1,000m. Would be cool to shoot further than that, however that is goal.

I see there was a thread posted on Monday concerning the LMSS, and it is well liked. And I see threads for the Cronos and it is well liked. The utility of the H32 reticle, as busy as it may be, is very appealing.

So you have the cash in hand to purchase a spotting scope, my budget is around $1k, which would you prefer?

I owned the lmss and it was a rugged/compact spotter and got the job done, but the glass at higher magnification was something to be desired. I was looking at the Cronus because I compared my lmss to the athlon ares (which is their mid range model) and the ares definitely had better glass which surprised the hell out of me. Cronus being their flagship model it should have better glass quality. I did talk to athlon and they won’t be releasing the Cronus tactical until after the new year. I ended up selling my lmss to get the Cronus but didn’t want to wait. So I invested in a swaro str 80. Eurooptic and midwayusa are having some crazy sales on demo str65/80s I saw a str65 for around $1900. Eyepiece comes in today for my str80, I’m excited to see how it is.
