In my never ending brain racking quest to figure out how to keep a sling from tangling on LMT rifles, I think I may have found a solution that would actually be worth a shit. I haven't actually taken the time to look at one closely yet because of a busy schedule but I'm wondering if anyone here has thought about it or even attempted it or just has some general thoughts on it. What I'm thinking is opening up the factory sling swivel sockets on the front of the forearm and also the butstock to the appropriate size, threading them and installing a limited rotation grovtech socket. Depending on the depth of it, I may have to shorten the cup that would be in the forearm to keep clearance from the barrel but I would think that would be easy enough. I figure since they are fine thread and hold well enough in fiberglass and carbon fiber, they aught to be plenty strong threaded into aluminum. The one in the butstock may need some kind of backer, I'm not sure yet. Any thoughts? Am I crazy? I can't go on having to deal with a twisted sling.
