I know I have seen these before but have no idea where to get one. I'm very new so please try to be understanding. It's one of those sheets that says how much drop your bullet has for each distance in inches and what the adjustment would be in MOA or MILS.

If anyone knows of a free place to get those let me know or how to do it.

I'm shooting 6.5 Creedmoor in a 26" barrel.

140 grain AMAX Hornady Factory Load
BC=.585
MV= 2810 fps

Spend the $10-$30 and get a good app for your phone, it will allow you to store several caliber,bullet weight/speeds. Get you some dope cards and fill them in as necessary before a comp or shoot

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

Running into a problem. How accurate are these supposed to be because it's different from what Hornady has listed on there website. Hornady used a 24" barrel for their data and I plugged in a 26" barrel and somehow I got more drop than they did. That doesn't sound right to me if I have more velocity. The problem is I need data up to 1000 yards for a practice session I'm going to on Friday and this is the only time I know I'll have access to a 1000 yard range here in AL.

Here's Hornady's:

MUZZLE 100 200 300 400 500
-1.50 1.90 0.00 -7.90 -22.60 -45.00

Here's what I got using the link:
100 200 300 400 500
0 3.4 12.4 27.6 49.8

I paid $15.99 for my ballistic app. It allows you to put in caliber,bullet weight,velocity,temp,sight over bore and so on. The first time I shot my gun it was with application dope and it was spot on out to 730 yards, which is the farthest I have access to shoot on a regular basis.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

I think I finally got it figured out. I just did not know about the ballistic software. I printed off a sheet from jbmballistics. I'm going to try it. I thought it was a nice site and I printed one sheet off in inches and another in mils since that's what my turret is in. I didn't think it would be that easy just dial in however many mils it says and shoot. Hopefully it works.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

Shooter app on iPhone is another good ballistics program.

The best way that I've found to calculate velocity is the shoot the rifle at a long distance near where that caliber is about to go subsonic. Do this with a spotter and back calculate the velocity from the DOPE.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

none of that is gonna matter until you know your velocity either by chrono or distance proving. i prefer proving at distance cause i dont believe most chronos. you are not going to be able to plug any numbers truly into a ballistic calc until you know this info.

i shoot the creedmoor and i would recommend you start at 400, 500, 600 and prove your drop. if you are shooting the 140amax factory i would try around 2.5-2.6 mil @ 500yd and see where you impact and go from there.

i use shooter app for a ballistic calc and it is fanttastic.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

It looks like to me the difference between hornadys data and yours is they use a 200 yard zero and yours was set at 100 yards. Thats why theirs is less than yours. Good luck on your shoot.

Thank you killswitch, I will try that on Friday and just try to walk my way out to 1000.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

no problem

you wont really have to walk it out per se if you prove at those distances and use a muzzle veocity tool like the shooter program has. plug in your dope needed to get centered up at those distances and it should be good on out to 1k or so. you will need to keep density altitude and such correct at distance or you will see some variances.

I thought that at first also but wouldn't there still be the same amount of drop in inches for a given distance. For example, Hornady's box says 7.9 inches of drop from 200 to 300 yards and Jbm would be 12.7 -3.4= 9.3 inches from 200-300 yards so that is a big difference especially since they used a 24" barrel at 2700 fps and I've got a 26" barrel so that should be less drop not more.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

Hopefully, someone has a chrono and a ballistics calculator out there that can help me, because my iphone took a dive in the pool the other day so the app won't be an option for Friday. I will have it by next months comp though.

Re: Load Data for 6.5 Creedmoor

If the altitude in Auburn is around 750 would that be close enough to use the 1000 ft elevation table or should I estimate down a hair?

What length barrel are you using killswitch have you got a consistent velocity out of the AMAX's or are they not very consistent?
