I have read the ladder testing using the round robin method and understand its purpose and how repeatable it can be. There are a couple of questions i have that i can't figure our reading the 6mmBR website.

In this picture below from their website, where was the shooter aiming for each group? was he just aiming at the center of the paper? Also for tactical (non-BR) is it recommended to have rifle in a fixed vice to minimize vertical dispersion at long distances as well?

Re: Load development, ladder testing question!

Yes, you are firing at the same point for the duration of the load test. Meaning, if you have a load set up from 41gr to 44.5 in .4gr increments, then you are firing each individual load at the same point of aim. The reason there is so much variation on the target is due to the long range the load is being tested at and the subsequent increase in velocity from higher charge weights.

It is critical that the rifle is as steady as ultimately possible, as you want to wean out any outside influences on the test.

Also, please note that those are two separate targets, and were fired at different times. They are simply laid out side by side for the purposes of the test.
