Load for PRS tac division

I’m looking to build a load for tac division in 308, I’ve got powder, brass and primers sorted but no idea where to start with projectiles. I’ve heard SMK’s aren’t the best choose, but the ELD-M are supposed to be good. I’m coming from a dasher and 6 creedmoor back ground, so I know what works in them but 308 is a whole new adventure.

Varget and federal GMM brass since I’ve got a decent amount of both.

There is nothing wrong with smks. Sierra 175s at 2650 fps are my default goto for anything 7.62. Bergers and Hornady eldms might be a little more slippery and you might not have as much weight variation with bergers if you are type to weigh your bullets, but there is certainly nothing inherently wrong with smks.

In this climate, load what you have and go shoot.

exit: if your new to loading for 308, look up the specs for M118LR. Thats a great place to start.

44.1 Varget and 168 ELD-M is what I have used with LC Brass.
Obviously, you will need to work up to this in your rifle.

I order up some 169 SMK’s that hopefully show up before I run out of factory loaded 168’s

I always loaded the 175 SMK's and they shot great, I tried some of the 168 Berger's and they were even better. You can get more speed and less wind deflection with the Berger's.

I’ve had good luck with the 105 hybrids in my 6mm stuff, might have to try 168’s if I can get some in hand.
