Ok i just reloaded my first round of my life. Any way im using a RCBS die. Anyways when i removed the round the bullet had horizontal circle marks on it where bullet came in contact with the die.Any thoughts?

Re: Loaded first round today, Question

Polish your seating stem. Take the die apart and use a little bit of polishing compound on a dremel (fastest way) or you can chuck up a Q-tip in a hand drill.

You don't want to remove material, just smooth out the seating cup.

A slight ring is normal. It will be more pronounced if you have high neck tension or are seating into a compressed load. You can try dipping the necks in graphite prior to bullet seating, it can reduce seating pressure a little.

See if that helps some.

Re: Loaded first round today, Question

Is your seater die screwed down deep enough to crimp? It could be making the marks from being too deep. You might try backing it up a little and see if they dissapear. No need for the crimp anyway.

Would that cause problems?

I would get a copy of the latest Lyman manual at least. There are many others that make for good reading and learning. The Lee manual is also good.

Please be careful.
