Loading for my new custom 243 and using 105 amax bullets.

Max C.O.L. Shows to be 2.630 would you load them that length or leave them longer just to the point of touching the rifling for better accuracy?

Ready to load 200 of them and thought maybe I should ask first.

There is no conclusive answer to your question and several factors will determine what the best bullet seating depth for your chosen bullet, powder, primer cartridge combination.

I would start .010" of the lands or just touching the lands if your mag will permit seating to that length and go from there.

Check out the stickys in the reloading forum for more information and that is where this post needs to be as well.

2.630" has got to be a misprint as that is way short. My .243 with the 105 BTHP is at about 2.835" to the lands and I load them at 2.815".

I always start about .020" off the lands with Hornady bullets and usually find between that and .010" is where I find the load. They also don't mind a longer jump most of the time but when handloading I figure why should they have to.

If they are really 2.630 to the lands then you need to get with the smith as that is wrong. I wouldn't shoot the rifle.
