After reading several articles, I have decided to try a much heavier weight bullet in my 1 in 10" twist 308. I will use Lapua brass, CCI br2's, I have some RL 15, RL 17 and N550 for this. It seems a lot of folks are using the 208 Amax's but it seems they are in short supply, and quality control seems to bit of an issue with them. So I am going to try the top two bullets and go from there, anyone with any experience with these.

mjh,

I shoot the 210 JLKs out of my .308, they'll make it to 1k without any problems and group well, too. N-550 with WLRs works best in my experience. My caveat is I load them very long, 3.224" with 0.015" jam. MV is around 2650f/s. I don't know what results you'll get if you load them shorter, since the case is pretty much filled with powder. Find out what the volume your fired cases have, the COL jam length of the loaded round and use QuickLoad to figure out how much powder to use, or if the resulting round would be usable in the MV department.
