Hey guys, I can fit a COAL of 3.76 inches in my magazine, but using my comparator, to be 20thou off the lands I need to be 3.85 inches.....too long to fit in the mag, which takes away from the rifle, and doing tactical shoots where speed and maneuverability matters...I found a load that shoots well using a COAL of 3.75, 89 grains of H1000, Federal Match Large Magnum Rifle primers, and 300 grain Berger Hybrid OTM Tactical bullets....I shot groups doing load testing at only 100 and 200 yards just to see grouping...I shot .5 MOA or better with my load...A friend of mine shoots the same rifle same caliber and likes to hand feed his rifle with the 3.83 COAL, and says its more accurate....well.... .5 MOA or less is .5 MOA no matter what the COAL! I feel function is important, but would like to improve accuracy too...is it just a matter of experimenting? Military snipers, at least the ones I served with, all use mag length rounds and are hitting Taliban out past 1000 yards/meters....is it that important to have a long COAL to gain, or what?!!! Oh...I'm shooting a Savage 110 BA....Very good rifle for the money, I can outshoot my friend who has the A.I. and his rifle was 2.5 times more expensive....not more accurate, but a little smoother though in the action...same with the Barrett I shot...not more accurate, but a little smoother...The A.I. was the smoothest... No complaints about the Savage, just an expensive round to shoot...but I spend about 60% less than store bought by doing it myself...Thanks!
