And, yes, it will eat your brass without an adjustable gas system.

Thank you for that recipe. It is very close to an earlier post listing the load for the M118LR.
Where do you shoot? I'm just north of Fort Worth and shoot in Haltom City.

I love them. I find they are easier to develop accurate loads with then SMKs at least for my rifle. If your rifle doesn't like them I'll gladly take them off your hands.

Probably.

A loaded some 165 w/44 varget in LC and they shot great, which is the same way I load 168smk.

A better way than asking on the internet would be to buy a couple loading books, sierra and lyman are good ones.

I would recommend against Sierra's reloading data because it is EXTREMELY conservative.

Re: Loads for .308 AR?

This is what I run. Only tried it at 100 yards so far.

Rifle specs: ARMALITE AR10T LW barrel CUT TO 18"
7.62 NATO chamber

Winchester case
FED 210M primer
RELOADER 15 44gr
175 SMK
Mag length

This load did 2490 fps avg. Off of a Shooters Crony (blue). Sea level, about 85* temp.

Good for MOA or better with what I've shot at 100.

Re: Loads for .308 AR?

Good post and responses. I have not loaded for my RR LAR 8 but was thinking about doing it. The responses here were interesting and helpful. It appears that there is not too much difference between loading for a bolt and a semi.

For my bolt gun, I use 168 smk, 43.5 gr varget, fed match primers, various cases, 2.78 - 2.79 coal. This is not too far off from what many are using for their semis. (I neck size only for the bolt but would full size for the semi.)

It appears that there is more of a similarity than a difference in the loads for a bolt vs semi.

I wish I had an AR-10 as I think that they are the best weapon to use all around.

Now about your choice of a Bi-Pod...I like the tall Bi-Pod because I have found that the sitting position works just about a well as the prone and the tall Bi-pods also allows you to shoot above the blades of tall grass and then you can lower yourself below the high grass to escape and evade.

Love the 308 because it is stable out to 900 meters or more.

Good shooting!
