Anybody out there with some advice as to which way to go, I know the barrel is short but it's what I got. What bullet and powder combo will work the best. What range could one expect with barrel, bullet, and powder working in harmony. Just seeking some info before I start down this road, and any good advice will be considered. I have yet to purchase any I was looking to get info on a place to start from. I have just been shooting mil-spec 7.62 FMJ and am impressed with the accuracy of the rifle, and since I reload for mainly bolt guns I need some help on developing a good load. I am interested in a load that will be some what accurate out to 600 yds with that short of a barrel, if that's even achievable. Thanks for the input...

600 shouldn't be a problem just because of barrel length.
Load development is the same, just pick out a powder (anything from IMR3031 to Varget should do) and a good bullet like a 175 SMK, 175 Nosler, 178 AMAX and go from there.

Thanks I was wondering what bullet weight to go with, and was leaning towards the lighter stuff. I didn't think that you would be able to stabelize the heaver offerings, and before I wasted the money I thought I would ask for some advice. Not a whole lot of that pouring in as you can see, I'll try some 175 SMK's with Varget and see how she goes. Thanks for you input BCP...

44.6 varget win brass cci primer 175 smk 2.8 COAL is a popular load. It was very accurate for me but a bit hot for some reason (went to 45 with a 178 amax just fine so I was scratching my head about that).
I have since settled on 43 varget LC brass and 43.5 win brass instead (same everything else as above).

How did it go and have you found any loads you particularly like for the LAR-8. I just got a LAR-8 with the 16.5 barrel and I am a total newbie when it comes to reloading. I have been researching and reading the posts, but it is a lot of overwhelming material. I have yet to commit and purchase any presses or dies. Still running factory, but due to cost and the desire to improve accuracy I would like to begin reloading. If you find anything that is working for you please share. Thanks.
