Loads for the bigger 22's....22-250,220, 22ai's

I'm just getting into the 22-250 a little more and recall my dad loving the
55gr NBT
36grs of Varget
Win Primer
.
Looking for a "deer" load in the 22-250 (prefer 53gr TSX or 60gr Partition). These will be shot from a 28" 1/12 twist TC Pro Hunter barrel on my encore. His HB 700 with Unertl monster isn't quite handy in the deer woods.

YES I know its not an ideal caliber BUT do to health reasons for my Dad he needs a low recoil caliber this year. Sooo that brings us to what I'm looking for. Any help is greatly appreciated...Thanks Be Safe

this any help there is a convertion table where you can find the hodgdon name there powder is sold under in the USA. I.E. varget is AR2208

if recoil is a problem have you though about a muzzel brake?

I've run 38gr varget and 53gr tsx with good accuracy and a sizzling 3850fps. It's a little hot so I backed off a grain or so, I can't remember the exact charge. I'll check it later and post it .

My notes show 38gr @ 3898fps. I backed off to 36.0gr. Accuracy was under an inch. Should be better after I float the tang.

This savage shoots 4s for 5 shots using 45gr hp UMC cheapies.

I have a Remington 700 with the barrel cut to 18". This load yields .75" and under at 100yds. I do not know the velocity, but I am sure it is lacking for long range work. This rifle is for a truck/beater so I wanted it handy.

40 grains may be way to hot.If you are using the 22-250 ackley then you start out using 220 swift load imfo or get the po ackley reloading manuals.

I just put together an 8 twist 22-250AI with plans to use 80 grainers. My fire forming load is:

80gr Nosler Custom Comp
37.0gr of H4350
Win brass
WLR primer
