I am currently working on a Blackout build. It will have a 16" barrel. I am looking for proven loads for 125 Gr Sierra, 150 Gr Hornady Full Metal Jacket, and anything else 168 MK, 200 Mk, etc. I have H110, AA1680, and Lil Gun powders on hand.

Re: Loads Needed for 300 Blackout

I run 18 gr of lil'gun with the 125 sierra, 17.2 with 147 FMJ (pulled) and 11.2 gr of AA1680 with the 220 SMK (subsonic) in my 16 incher
good luck, hope this helps.

Re: Loads Needed for 300 Blackout

Just google 300 Fireball and 300 Whisper and you will have all the loads your heart desires. Another novel approach is to look in your Sierra manual, edition V 4th printing under 300 Whisper.
What is a proven load? The best way to find out what will work in your rifle is to develope loads for that rifle. Then you have a proven load for your rifle.
aa1680 is a good powder but has a limited window of bullet weights. H110 is good all around and is identical to ww296, in my experience they run a bit dirty. The best powder for range of bullet weights and clean running is N110 Vihta Vouri.

Armorchikn, thanks for your suggestion on the Sierra manual I do have that exact one but the loads were developed for a Thompson Pistol figured there would be a little difference. I am waiting on my upper and thought I would get a few loads together.

There will be some difference but they are a good starting point. Anything safe in a Contender will be safe in an AR.

Re: Loads Needed for 300 Blackout

Are you looking for subsonic or supersonic loads? I have played with quite a few loads for this, but most are subsonic for my 9" AAC upper. For supersonic, you will do much better with your 16" over my 9", but lil gun seems to produce the highest velocities I have seen so far. Let me know what areas you might be looking for data on and I will share what I have or know.

Re: Loads Needed for 300 Blackout

DarkD,

I load for 300 Win Mag. and .308, so I have all ranges of bullets on my shelf. I was thinking on the supersonic 125 gr. sierra spitzer, 150 FMJ, and a subsonic at 200 or 220, or anythinig else if you can load lighter. I went with the blackout because of the other 30 cal I Load. I also havce a bolt action whisper but have been told the pressures are different, and the loads are not wuite the same. Not sure how much different they can be, everything looks the same to me, for the most part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Loads Needed for 300 Blackout

Sorry, was away from my PC yseterday. We shot a bunch of hogs last September/October fir 110 VMax .300 BLK and they did fantastic. The hogs never knew what hit them. If I recall, we used the same 7 1/2 remington primers with 21.7gr of LilGun. But I will confirm that when I get home tomorrow and can check my load data. Velocity was about 2100 fps from what I recall. I am hoping to get out to the range with the chrono this weekend or next. If you give me a few specific loads (assuming I can get my hands on the bullets) I will load up a few and give you some range reports.

I have some 150 HDY SST, 155 HDY AMAX, 168 BTHP, 178 BHTP, and 155 Berger VLDs....anything else would require a purchase.

As far as the 300 Whisper, the SAMMI specs are almost 100% identical. I saw the should length was different by .001 and I think that was it. As far as case pressure goes, if anything the Whisper was lower, so you can use that max a starting point and then work up from there looking for overpressuring.
