I have a Stevens 200 that I would like to remove the barrel from. I was wondering I there is anybody local (I live in Rowlett) that has the stuff and would be willing to help me remove the factory barrel? The gunsmiths around here don't want to be bothered with just removing the barrel.

Thanks,

Do you need know how or the tools? If it's just know how, there is a youtube video. It's so easy it's almost scary. The most important part is having a set of go/no go gauges to make sure that you have the head space right.

Now that I think about, Bergara barrels has a video on their website.

I called about the blocks today and they don't have any. There was no indication on if they would be getting anymore in anytime soon.

I use a wheeler action wrench.. put the action in the wrench.. put it in my vice and use the nut wrench to break the nut loose. Both wrenches can be purchased at Midway. They are a good investment as well as a set of padded barrel vices. Make the investment and you will be happy when you go to add your new barrel or a replacement.. or on your next build. Hard to have just one.

make you a set of wood blocks from some oak scrap. you just need to hold the barrel tight while you smack the nut wrench. it's not on there that tight, at least none I have removed were all that tight.

I've done this too.. cut a wedge and put some scrap leather pn both sides (like everybody's got scrap leather laying around right..??)
