Rifle Scopes LocTite Base?

Just got my EGW base.. everything fits as it should..

I have some RED LocTite...should I?

I really want to to ease my mind..but i dont want to regret it later....

do yall use loctite?

Locktite 242, blue for scope rings and bases. Service grade. So it can be removed easily.

+1 for blue, I use it on all of my base screws.

Blue is good if that's what you have. Just use a little bit. Put it on a toothpick and apply to screws. The purple is ideal. Made for the really small screws like mounts have.

Blue is what you should use. Red will come off with some heat. You can transfer heat through the wrench/driver without messing up the base finish.

Thanks for the screwdriver heat tip.

Seems most ring and base mfrs simply advise a thin coat of gun oil before installing, and then torquing to about 25 or 30 inch pounds which ain't much.

Purple is the correct mix for the small stuff.

I used blue on the base screws of a JP one piece mount and because the torx bit is so small, two of the four screws stripped out. I did manage to get them out with an easy-out.

I have used red in the past. When you decide to remove it, you simply apply heat to the head with a solder iron and it will break the bond. I wouldn't use red if you are going to take it on and off more than a few times, (slow process)
