There are a lot of things that can be done with gas systems that aren't optimal. I wouldn't go longer than 16" on a mid-length, but there are others who say 18" is fine. It also depends on your gunsmith/builder. They have to know how to balance dwell time with port size and carrier and buffer weights. I try to use the longest gas system I can get away with. Why are you limiting yourself to a mid-length?

Don't get me wrong I would go rifle, I was looking at the pof upper and lowers in the group buy section they come with 11" rail and was said to run carbine or mid so I was just wondering what could be put together on this setup.
