I bought a $60 sight tool to press my Meprolite sights out of my Kimber and just removed the firing pin safety. Now I'm absent that, added a titanium firing pin for drop safety, and I have less weight in the slide for lack of those components.

This tool was a steal for how well it works.

I thought the kimber 9mm's looked like a good deal, but I hear good things about STI, so you probably can't go wrong with an STI.

I didn't know Mike was doing 1911s now. Any pics anywhere? still under "coming soon" at the site.

Hopefully he'll make an announcement thread or something of the sort. Kind of eager to see one now.

50% of his website says "check back soon"
Been checking on the rimfire stuff for a year now........wonder what he means by soon. His shit is flat awesome though!

Re: looking for a 1911

So i bought a kimber tac pro 2 9mm and sent it back to kimber to have them turn it into a covert pro 2. Maby more money in it now than i should and could have gotten something different but this 9mm covert matches my .45 covert and both kimbers.

Re: looking for a 1911

Ed Cameron of Cameron's Custom Guns is great gunsmith if your thinking of going with a custom build. He's like the Mike Rescigno of 1911's. Owned several 1911's from different builders before I was referred to him. He didn't even have a website at the time and he didn't advertise and he still had an 18 month wait. Now I own two of his builds. Over 50K rounds down range between the two pistols and no gun related malfunctions. Amazing workmanship, reliability and accuracy. Another indicator to how good he is is that you never see his guns for sale in the classified ads anywhere. If you don't mind the wait or spending the coin, he's your man.

If you want to spend a bit less I'd suggest going with a stock pistol from SV or STI.
