I recently had a barreled action done by Greg at SPR, which does awesome work by the way, in hopes of eventually getting an M-24 clone put together. In looking for a smith that will drill and tap the receiver and barrel for the iron sight bases, it looks like a lot of smith's just don't do it. I contacted GAP about doing it, but they never got back to me, so they are either slammed or not interested. Texas Brigade Armory seems to have a spotty rep, so really not interested in going that route. A local smith in SoCal would be nice, but not necessary. Are there any other reputable smith's out there that can do this, or am I just not looking in the right places? Any help/info of where to go would be great. Thanks!

...if you're one of Greg's clients, I would help you out with the irons. You're not going to find a lot of takers because there's very little money to be made on a project like that (not to mention very little room for error when drilling/tapping holes for irons) and there's really not that many true "custom" gunsmiths around. I'm one of them...shoot me a PM if you're interested, it would be at least 2-3 months leadtime and you would need to ship me your selected irons with the barreled action. Thanks.

Someone who can do the job and did a Win M70 for me years ago was James Kobe <sp> he is on the Hide and he is located in Minnesota twin city area.
He did a great job and fast turn around, but it has been about 20 years ago!

Sorry don't have current contact info for him.
