I'm looking to buy a older or fairly new gunsmithing lathe for my personal use I'm located in SE MO and willing to travel a short distance to pick one up. Thanks

Most that I'll spend is around $3000 just because I can get a Grizzly for that but would like to start out a little cheaper.

Does any body know if their is any differences between the Grizzly G4003G lathe and the Shop Fox M1112 lathe if so what. Thanks

The Grizzly doesn't come with a cheapo coolant system. Also, it was in stock last I looked and I couldn't find a Shop Fox anywhere in stock at a decent price. I've had the 4003G about a month now and so far I am quite pleased with it for the price.

I called Grizzly to day and said that the 4003G lathe would not be in any of their stores till mid to late April.

Damn, guess I got lucky then. They had also been out of stock for several months prior to Jan.

I was told the same in December for the 4003G, but placed my order anyways. I magically received a shipping notice a few days later. I have heard the same story many times - maybe they have a problem with their inventory system?
Be advised, if you place your order you will probably get a lathe a week later =)

It may depend on which warehouse they are shipping from. It only showed as in stock for me when I put my zip code into their shipping calculator.

They have one of the middle size machines in stock at their Muncy PA store but I live 4 1/2 hours from their Springfield store and don't want to transfer one to it.
